The official translation renders faithfully and precisely the type, the attributes and the entire content of the translated document. The first page of the translation is placed on the company form of a certified translation agency and all pages of the document bear the translator’s signature and the seal of the company.
The legalization of the translations of documents for use abroad consists of affixing an Apostille on the Bulgarian document and authenticating the translator’s signature placed on the last page of the translation (two authentications in total). The translations of documents issued abroad for use in Bulgaria require one authentication - that of the signature of the person who translated the document into Bulgarian. The institutions that can affix an Apostille are the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Education. In some cases (e.g. certificates of current status) the document must be issued by a local institution and certified by the head office of that institution before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can affix an Apostille and authenticate the translator’s signature.
